Basic workouts and routines to develop strength
staying healthy on the double bass
1. warming up
Did you ever think about yourself as an athlete? Cause you are!
And every athlete needs a proper warm up routine.
2. body position
Let’s have a look on different approaches to hold the instrument.
Sitting vs. standing, height of endpin, etc. …
3. right hand
How to find and define your sound. Arco (german/french) and pizzicato.
Be smart and let the arm weight do the work.
4. left hand
Workouts for strength, endurance and intonation. How to shift relaxed.
Transition into thumb position.
5. create your own exercises and training schedule
What is a good exercise? Is it okay to fool around?
What is an effective training schedule?
6. stretching routines
Is stretching important? How long do I have to stretch?
What to do when I feel pain?
